Skankane Transport: Keeping safe on the roads

When heading away for a holiday, you are usually filled with excitement at the thought of the adventures you are going to be having. Going away on holiday at this time of year means that you will be sharing the roads with hundreds of other drivers. At this time of year being on the roads can be a dangerous place to be.

Keeping safe on the road with Skankane

At Skankane Transport we want you to be safe on the roads this festive season. In Mpumalanga the police have warned drivers about the consequences of being reckless on the roads this festive season and drivers have been warned not to drink and drive.

Here we have prepared some tips to help you to be safe on the roads:

  1. Wear your seatbelt at all times, even if you are not driving far. A seatbelt will 99% of the time prevent you from being thrown out of the car should you be in an accident.

  2. Never drink and drive. Losing your life, or worse taking someone else’s life, because of drinking and driving is completely preventable so don’t take the chance. Being caught by the police while drinking and driving will mean serious jail time for you.

  3. Being in a rush to get to your holiday is never a good idea. Be patient on the roads and always make sure that you get enough rest. Driving while tired will mean that you won’t be able to concentrate well enough to be safe on the roads.

  4. Before leaving on your trip make sure that your car is roadworthy and is safe to drive. Also do not overload your car.

  5. Always stick to the rules of the road and never take chances, it is not worth the risk or being injured or killed.

  6. Don’t expect others to follow the road rules just because you are following the rules. Always be aware of those who are using the roads with you and always concentrate.

  7. Plan your journey well ahead of time and know the route you want to take.

Arriving at your holiday safely should be of the utmost importance. Remember that your holiday is meant to be enjoyed so try to remain calm and relaxed while on the roads this festive season.

We’d like to wish all of our loyal supporters a happy and safe festive season and we urge everyone to take it easy on the roads.
